Yvette Garcia I was in charge of writing about research of animals for the webpage, incorporating the text and why it is either important or not to have a zoo. I was also in charge of editing the video, which Eric Novak filmed of our whole group, The Tree Huggers at the Los Angeles Zoo. The video will be presented to the (fall 1998) IGE 223 class as a final project along with the webpage. Personally, I think the Zoo's are an educational tool, where plenty of useful research with animals is being done. The research is not harmful to the animals as a matter of a fact it is beneficial to our knowledge of how to better care for them and preserve, save or build them a suitable habitat. I feel strongly that zoo's that have not undergone changes to make more room for animals and that do not try to simulate their natural habitat needs to make changes, and make room for animals and imitate their natural habitat as closely as possible. The Los Angeles zoo had proposition CC. Which is a plan for a first class zoo, with lots of upgrades, repairs, completion of exhibits, and moving animals from concrete to open grassy habitats.
