Even when I was a kid saying the pledge of allegiance in school the whole "under God" part seemed a little weird to me.
It didn't bug me at all, but I didn't really understand why we were throwing God into a pledge to our country. Now I know why. President Eisenhower said so.

The good news is that Toshiba's copying Apple, but the bad news is that they're also copying Apple's outrageous iPod pricing scheme. $400 for 5 gigs! Sheesh!
The hard drive is removable, which is good, but the whole idea of a cheap knock-off is that it's supposed to be...well...cheaper!

I'm pretty sure that Braca didn't really kill Scorpius on Friday's Farscape. There is no way they would shoot him once and just bury him. I mean come on.
Let's look at the facts!
* Scorpius is half Sebacean, half Scarran. It takes a couple of shots from a pulse weapon to take down a Scarran.
* Scorpius told Sikozu not to let them bury him. He wouldn't have said that if he didn't think he had a chance of recovery.

I think big corporations are good for America - with one exception. I hate ClearChannel Communications.
I hate ClearChannel. I blame them for the sorry state of FM radio. Ever notice how every major city you visit has a "KISS-FM" and a "STAR-FM" and a "KROQ-FM"? They all play the same stuff, over and over and over again. That's because ClearChannel owns just about every radio station in every major market in America. And they play the exact same music across the country. "KISS" in New York is the same as "KISS" in LA.
You might say to yourself "But Brett! Why waste time with FM when you can get XM?" Whelp, ClearChannel owns something like 60% of XM too! If I ever go with satellite radio, I'll either figure out a way to steal XM's signal, or start paying for Sirius, XM's main competitor.
For now, all I can do is listen to public radio. I don't know what I would do without it.
12:22 PM Barrage is playing at the Tomorrowland Terrace from now through July 7th!
If you're looking for great music and and an amazing performance, Barrage will not disappoint! Tammy and I saw the Canadian cast last year and were blown away. This is the European cast though. Tammy saw them at a trade show somewhere and talked to them after their set. They were super nice and even signed autographs for her!
I guess I'll get to see how they stack up to the Canadian cast this weekend!
11:37 AM This is absolutely the most hilarious thing I've seen happen in the computer industry in the past year.
Way to go, Rambus! The fact that virtually all motherboard manufacturers never licensed your technology YEARS AGO should have given you some indication that you weren't gonna make it!
For 42 days straight beginning Saturday, July 13, Disney's California Adventure park will be rockin' and rollin' with a stellar lineup of 16 famed recording groups as part of its new "Disney's Rockin' the Bay" summer music series.

I don't know how they managed to pull it of, but Razor 1911 just released the final version of Warcraft III, just one day after it went gold, and a full two and a half weeks before retail. That's just incredible.

Hello Herbalife salesman! I can tell that multi-level marketing thing is really working out for you. Your rusted-out 1982 Chevy Astrovan with Herbalife stickers all over the back is proof of your success!

Does anyone actually play Rayman? Ubi-Soft keeps releasing sequel after sequel for the various systems, and I can't remember ever playing it, seeing someone play it, or knowing anybody who owns a copy.
1:00 PM Mozilla 1.0 was released today. Took them long enough!
I'm using it now. It seems ok. I'll probably start using it instead of Netscape 4 as my day-to-day browser.
Interestingly enough, IE still feels like the best browser on the PC. That's one thing Microsoft hasn't managed to screw up (well, if you don't count all the security holes and whatnot.)
I installed an Afterburner in my Game Boy last night. It took me about five hours. Everything that could go wrong, did. The wires in the kit are just too thin! They break off of their solder points with even moderate flexing. I got dust and fingerprints on the screen, and my light switch doesn't move as smoothly as I'd like.
Anyone who tells you an Afterburner installation is easy is a DIRTY LYING BASTARD. It's harder than the standard PlayStation modchip installation or Dish Network TSOP locking, that's for damn sure.
I'll probably wind up selling my Afterburner-enhanced Game Boy on Ebay. The Game Boy was $70 and the light was $35. I'm positive someone would buy it for $105.
I've got a spare Afterburner kit, unopened. Triton Labs is backordered, but If you want it, it's yours. $35 + shipping. Just let me know.

Cowboy Bebop is the only anime I've seen that I've really enjoyed. It was a TV series in Japan that lasted 26 episodes. Cartoon Network plays an episode every Saturday night; that's how I got hooked.
I've been looking all over for the six-DVD boxed set with all the episodes. The set was a limited edition though, and it's now out of print. Also, it carried an MSRP of $199 - way too much money to spend on cartoons!
So I did what my instinct told me to do and I checked eBay. Sure, it was for sale there - for anywhere from $250 to $350! Again, not an option. However, I dug a little deeper and soon found someone selling all of the episodes on *three* DVDs for just $35. $35! I figured that after the success of the limited edition set, the publisher had decided to release an affordable version of the series 'for the masses,' and I jumped on it. I know nothing about anime, so it seemed plausible.
Less than a week later, the DVDs arrived. From Hong Kong. The gate-fold packaging was a remarkably high-quality, and the image quality of the DVDs themselves was very sharp. One thing caught my eye though...the DVDs contained all of the extra bonus material from the expensive limited edition version!
That seemed pretty strange to me, so I did some research. Guess what? I had a bootleg in my hot little hand! I soon learned that the DVD was produced by fX video, one of the three largest bootlegging operations in Hong Kong. They apparently copied the entire limited edition Region 1 six-DVD set, downsampled the video a little, and threw the entire content on to three fully-loaded Region 0 DVDs.
Let me tell you, they did a fan-freaking-tastic job with it. It fooled me! Both the Japanese and US Dolby Digital soundtracks were still intact, and the menus had been subtly altered to accommodate the extra episodes on each disc. This was a high-class bootleg, the likes of which I never knew existed.
Anyway, if you love anime but hate paying top dollar for it, I'd highly recommend searching Ebay for items being sold by 'florachanxxx' You'll probably receive a bootleg, but if it looks as good as the Cowboy Bebop set that I wound up with, you won't be disappointed!
