ABC's Primetime Preview weekend is coming to DCA in late August. It looks kind of lame, with the only exception being an in-park taping of Whose Line is it Anyway?

This morning I got my car washed. I went to a fancy automatic car wash down the street from work.

AMAZING.

The soap was blue, green, and purple! And my car got super clean! At $4.95, it was a super duper value! (The best part was not having to tip anybody!)

There was just one problem, though. My trunk has a spoiler on it, and the washer basically missed the whole space between the spoiler and the trunk. Every other part was spotless, though!

Buddy Baker has died. Among several other notable contributions to Disneyland, he co-wrote "Grim Grinning Ghosts" with X Atencio back in 1969.

Fast Fact: X threw me a chocolate coin once!

Saturday night I was super tired but I couldn't fall asleep. I wound up playing Klonoa 2 'till 1:30 (which is super late for me.) That sorta screwed me up because last night I couldn't fall asleep either. It wasn't a total loss though, because I got to watch Door to Door on TNT.

Long story short, I am super tired today.

Tammy and I had one hoot-nanny of an engagement party this weekend in my backyard. We had about 65 people there, a jazz pianist, and some great Italian food. A good time was had by all! Or at least it seemed that way. :)

I spent almost the whole day Sunday napping. Being social really wipes me out.

Why are bibles printed on that super thin paper? I've never seen any other books printed on that stuff. It's like they make this one stock of paper just for printing bibles and nothing else.

I bet the people at the printing company call it "GodStock" or "JesusPaper" or "PapalParchment." Everybody calls it something different, but they all know what it means.

"Hey Joe, I'm gonna need another two rolls of ChristStuff!"

"No problem, Larry! Gonna print some more bibles today?"

"You know it!"

(then they high-five)

When I built my computer in September 2000, I bought a 7200RPM ATA-100, 40 GB hard drive for around $300.

Today I could buy an 80 GB drive with the same specs for about $80.

Just something to think about!

I sit here at work and I get a little sleepy or annoyed or whatever.

And then Tammy crawls into my ear and climbs around on my brain. She pokes at the part that makes me remember what she looks like. She digs her toes into the part that makes me remember what her perfume smells like. She blows on the part that makes my fat belly tickle.

But then she curls up next to the part that makes me love her. And let me tell ya, there ain't no feelin' in the world like that.

I was out late last night at the Brea mall with Tammy adding registry items at Robinsons/May. Then we scooted over to Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney to use a coupon she had.

I got home at midnight, and today my eyelids weigh 50 pounds.

Help!

Tammy and I spent the whole weekend cleaning and reorganizing her room. I'm still pooped.

Sunday we went with her dad and brother to the brazilian bbq in Covina, and then to the nickel arcade right behind it. Lemmie tell ya, $5 in nickels goes a long way at one of those places. I got to play some of those big simulator skateboard/driving/shooting games for super cheap!

I also dusted off the ol' scanner this weekend and listened to the police. Not a whole lot of exciting stuff happens in Glendora, apparently.

I also did some research online and found that Disneyland has switched to a trunked system, making most of my scanning efforts totally futile. I might need to get a new scanner altogether!

I am so glad that my company offers a 401(k) plan. Sure, I won't see any of that money 'till I'm 59 1/2 (I'm shooting for 65,) but at least it means that Tammy and I won't be eating Alpo when we're old and gray.

I just saw a chart over at fool.com that scared the crap outta me and made me realize how glad I am that I started investing early.

According to fool.com, an employee contributing $5000 a year to a 401(k) plan for 40 years will be able to cash-out at 65 for almost $800,000. If you hesitate and start contributing say 10 years later with just 30 years of investment time, you can expect that amount to be LESS THAN HALF.

Invest $200,000 over 40 years and get back $787,170.
Invest $150,000 over 30 years and get back $364,612.

Saving for just 25% longer gets you a ROI that's more than double. In my opinion this is fucked up math by the government, but it works out in your favor. If your company offers a 401(k) plan, you NEED to contribute to it, *especially* if they match your contributions.

And throw that money in an index fund! Spread it across at least three different funds, making sure to have some type of international component.

I know jack about money, but when it comes to 401(k)s I am the biggity-biggity-bizzomb.

This just in! DLR is now offering one-day park hoppers!

Previously you had to buy a ticket to either Disneyland or California Adventure for $45. If you wanted to visit both parks, you had to buy two tickets.

Now you can buy one ticket that'll get you into BOTH parks for $59, just $14 more.

They're desparate to get bodies into DCA, and I think they're realizing that making the tickets damn-near free was the only way to do it. Maybe if they hadn't cheaped-out on the place and done things right the first time around they wouldn't be having these problems.

I went to the Haunted Mansion Holiday special event last year, but I don't think I'll be going again this year. Today Disneyland announced this year's event, and unlike last year, there are now four separate packages available: J, A, C, and K.

I've been priced out of all but the "K" package, and K appears to be the exact same show that I went to last year. Oh well. Maybe once Tammy and I get married and drop a down payment on a house I'll consider going to stuff like this again. :(

One thing I'm glad to see is that they've done away with the phone registration process. Now registrations will only be taken via email, fax, or US mail. No more waking up at 6 in the morning and redialing for two hours just to be told that the event had sold out. That'll be nice for future events too.

If you didn't go last year, I'd say that the K package is definitely worth $69, especially if you're a big fan of Tim Burton or the Nightmare Before Christmas.

Last Friday's Farscape was great, but I'm confused. Is Aeryn pregnant or not? What was the deal with that ending?

I told you Scorpius didn't die! He definitely has something up his sleve though. There had to be something else in the neural clone remover that he gave to Chrichton.

I've switched from using the official ICQ client to Trillian. Not only is Trillian free of annoying pop-up windows and banner ads, but it also does AIM, IRC, MSN, and Yahoo all in a single application! It also supports 128 bit encrypted messages over ICQ - something that ICQ itself doesn't even support!

Make the switch today!

I'm alive! And terrorists didn't touch Disneyland! Whoo hoo! We managed to catch the 9PM Fantasmic and the 9:25 4th of July fireworks right after. An awesome event, as usual.

We saw Men In Black II yesterday. It was good. Not great.

My grandparents flew back from their Australia trip on Thursday afternoon, right about when bullets were flying through LAX. They got back without a scratch though!

We also put the deposit down on Ocean Trails. It's official. We're going to have an afternoon ceremony on Sunday August 24, 2003. See you there!

You have to call 1-800-555-TELL, or as I like to call it, the All-Seeing Oracle!

Neither can the terrorists, I bet! Oh well. I'll take my chances.

Nvidia just released this cool program called Earthviewer. It streams satellite images to your PC so that you can...

"...reach out and "grab" the earth with your mouse, pan quickly to your area of interest (or select it from a placemark) and then zoom smoothly down to an individual building."

The screenshots look awesome, but their registration server seems to be overloaded so I can't play with it right now. :(

After years of faithful and reliable service, my Yamaha CD-RW 4x4x16 SCSI drive has finally kicked the bucket.

That means I have to buy a replacement, something I can't really afford right now.

I decided to ditch the SCSI interface mainly because SCSI is a dumb thing to have in a desktop computer.

Buy.com has free shipping now, so that helps a little. Not much though.

Tammy and I spent the weekend driving through the South Bay with her mom to find good places to get married.

I'm pretty sure that we'll never be able to afford it, but Tammy and I decided that we'd like to get married at Ocean Trails. We're waiting to hear back on pricing, but we're sure it's more than we've got.
