Having just painted the inside of our house, I've been deathly afraid of even TOUCHING the walls, lest I leave behind some kind of scratch or smudge or any mark that would mar the otherwise perfect surface.

Today I discovered the Paint Buddy, any my fears have evaporated. This is genius!

Typical paint touch-up process:
* Pry open paint can with screwdriver
* Stir can of paint
* Obtain paintbrush
* Paint
* Wash off paintbrush and clean up any stray paint
* Seal paint can with hammer

PaintBuddy touch-up process:
* shake tube
* flip switch
* paint
* rinse roller with water

They're only about $8 each. I think I'll pick some up today!

Google Earth is now FREE! They scrapped the subscription fee.

But it's not all sunshine and candy canes! They lowered the resolution of the satellite photos in the free version. Now they're only about as good as what you can view in Google Maps.

update: It looks like you can still pay $20 a year to get those super-sweet high-res satellite photos. I knew it was too good to be true!

Say goodbye to black and white iPods!

All iPods are now color-screened iPod Photos! In fact, the term 'iPod Photo' is gone now. 20 and 60GB sizes are available.

iPod minis still use monochrome displays, but why throw your money away on one of those? 6GB? Does anyone really have a music collection that's less than 6GB?

If you get the urge to replace a faucet on your own instead of calling a plumber to save a little cash, I'm here to tell you that's a bad idea.

I embarked on this journey at 6 this evening and didn't finish until 11. The 45 minute job I had envisioned wound up taking five hours! The faucet looks great, works, great and there's no leaks, but I really didn't need to spend five hours of my life installing it.

Granted, I'd never done it before so it'd probably go a little quicker next time, but I'm pretty sure that for any of my future faucet replacement needs I'll be calling in the pros.

At only $99, Dell's new Laser Printer 1100 is the cheapest 600dpi laser printer on the market. 2000 page refill cartridges are $65.

Not bad, not bad at all! But if you're still buying printers without ethernet connections, you're crazy!

A four-year old boy just died yesterday on Mission: Space. The ride was operating normally and he didn't do anything wrong...he just passed out and didn't wake up!

We got to attend the soft-opening of M:S and it IS pretty intense...but you're basically just sitting in a dressed-up centrifuge, essentially the same thing as a Tilt-A-Whirl ride that you'd find at any carnival.

Just got tickets today to see Mister Bela Fleck playing Music For Two with Edgar Meyer at The Barclay in November.

I had hoped to see him at the Hollywood Bowl in August with Jean Luc Ponty, and that would have been awesome, but the good seats were all taken by the time I tried to order tickets. :(

Seeing the "Obstinato" documentary about this project got me all excited. I'm PUMPED!

The Internet has been abuzz with news all weekend about Apple's rumored switch to Intel chips. This rumor has come up countless times before, and its origins date back several years, but News.com and the Wall Street Journal are reporting it as fact.

I've always said that I'd probably switch to OSX if they could make it run on generic PC hardware. That day may come sooner than anyone thought possible!

Steve Jobs' keynote is at 10AM today. We shall see if there's any truth to this!

update: Blow-by-blow coverage of the keynote. Refreshes itself every 60 seconds.

update #2: IT'S TRUE! Marklar really does exist, and it's been living on Intel hardware for the past 5 years.

update #3: False alarm. The last paragraph of this article ruins everything.
"However, Schiller said the company does not plan to let people run Mac OS X on other computer makers' hardware. "We will not allow running Mac OS X on anything other than an Apple Mac," he said."

Did you know that Apple allegedly pays off Mac rumor sites to NOT report rumors and speculation prior to big company announcements?

That's the word on the street!
"In regards to the WWDC rumor question, it's a widely known "secret" that Apple pays for the silence of various Mac news web sites by having those sites advertise WWDC. They also post Apple-approved WWDC stories and, by signing contracts with Apple, guarantee they will not speculate about WWDC. The sites then get product from Apple based on the number of click-throughs they generate."
I'd link to the article if I could, but there doesn't appear to be a direct link anywhere at MacInTouch.com.

Go to the search form, search for "wwdc rumor" and set the date to "is after 05/18/2005".

One such site getting some hot Apple payola is MacMinute, currently sporting a specially-formatted link back to Apple prominently placed at the top of their site.

Tammy's gone for a week and a half at a trade show in Vegas, so I'm home alone with nobody to keep me company except our two cats and the mexican painters that are almost finished painting our house.

So as you can imagine, when I get home from work I'm more than a little bored and lonely.

Since we subscribe to HBO and almost never watch it, I have decided to start Tivoing a movie-a-day from one of the seven HBO channels that we receive so that I have something to watch every night.

Tonight I watched Welcome to Mooseport. I was bored out of my mind the entire time. I'd give it a 2 out of 10.
