Computers and the Internet

Apple Computer's introduction of the Apple IIGS influenced Brett's parents to do something once thought impossible - purchase a computer. While the computer was intended for family use, Brett quickly seized upon it and unofficially claimed it as his own. The Apple was used primarily for playing games and calling up local BBSs, and Brett never tired of it until...

The death of the Apple II several years later prompted the family to get a new computer. Brett used this new 486 powerhouse to connect to a new thing called the 'Internet' which was accessed through a 'shell account' unless you wanted to pay big bucks for a 'SLIP' connection.

Netscape Mosaic exposed Brett to the Web for the first time. And what a time it was. Gray pages with black text were the standard back then. Not many people were doing anything terribly creative with the Web, but those that were inspired Brett to get his mojo in motion and put something online.

Now, several years later, Brett has become proficient in producing both dazzling PhotoShop web layouts and clean, handwritten HTML. His college years saw the birth of a freelance design career which has proven itself highly satisfying yet only mildly profitable.

Brett continues his self-education in areas where he feels school has failed him. Brett realized in his third year of school that he should have majored in Graphic Design and not Computer Information Systems.
